For those of you who are familiar with Kevin Smith, this may be shocking to hear he directed a horror film, a serious horror film. Red State depicts the terriffying inner workings of a phanatic religious group (similar to the Westboro Baptist church.) The movie itself isn’t as scary as it is disturbing, the films most bloody moments are during the firefight that breaks out between the church and federal agents? Its theme goes from creepy cult film to a tarantino blood bath. This isn’t your typical horror film don’t think you’ll be able to find a main character to root for because you wont, the only relevant character to survive the movie’s climax fight is John Goodman and he is only introduced half way through the movie. If you happen upon this movie while scrolling through netflix, and you have the time watch it.
