Red State-2011

For those of you who are familiar with Kevin Smith, this may be shocking to hear he directed a horror film, a serious horror film. Red State depicts the terriffying inner workings of a phanatic religious group (similar to the Westboro Baptist church.) The movie itself isn’t as scary as it is disturbing, the films most bloody moments are during the firefight that breaks out between the church and federal agents? Its theme goes from creepy cult film to a tarantino blood bath. This isn’t your typical horror film don’t think you’ll be able to find a main character to root for because you wont, the only relevant character to survive the movie’s climax fight is John Goodman and he is only introduced half way through the movie. If you happen upon this movie while scrolling through netflix, and you have the time watch it.

Dogtooth-2009

Looking for a weird movie to watch? A movie that by the end you have no idea what you just saw, a movie no discernible plot or purpose, a movie so intense you almost forget its also foreign. Dogtooth is that movie, centered around a family in which the parents have isolated their children from modern society, the film looks at the different and strange behaviors the children have adopted from their strange up bringing. The less you know about this film the better, i will only warn you that it is unsettling and inappropriate at some points (the film has not yet been rated). It’s not the kind of movie I would recommend watching more than once, it is an art film; its only meant to provoke thought. I would say that if you like being confused and are not easily shaken, you should give Dogtooth a go. 

Televison, yo!

This week has been one of the most exciting weeks in the tv calander, it was premire week for new and old shows on fox.  After the exusdus of popular snl stars, the show has announced the addition of 6 new cast members. The popular heart breaking show Breaking Bad is coming to an end, but classic amc shows like Mad Men(which will also commence its split final season) and Walking Dead are returning with in a couple weeks. The hit thriller centric show American Horror story will be premiring its new season of witches in New Orleans. Season 27 of surviver first episode premired and the big brother season came to an end.

Snedz gives us the lowdown on sports

Friday September 6,  during 6th period we had found Mr. Sneddon busy in his room, upon acknowledging our awkward presence in the doorway he had felt that my fellow reporters and i needed to hear about football. Mr. Sneddon went on about Peyton Manning breaking some unknown record after 44 years. The vagueness of this report can be attributed to the fact that although aware of my note taking Mr. sneddon didn’t not slow down nor pause at all durring his football rant. I can not confirm the relevance of this record to Henderson news, but Mr. Sneddon sure was excited about it.
